In May 1997 God gave Jerri the name GET REAL Ministries. Jerri, not understanding her assignment, did not accept her calling at that time. However, Jerri never forgot the name God had given her.
February 2006: Jerri accepted her calling. Her first assignment was to write her autobiography titled, "Through It All'. With no writing experience and little education this proved to be very challenging. However, Jerri trusted God and that's where her journey began...
February 2007: Ten years after God gave Jerri the name, in her home with eight women in attendance, GET REAL Self Help Ministries was birthed and “WOMAN TALK” was presented. As a result, Jerri now travels across the country speaking to women and teen groups. As a messenger of GOD, Jerri speaks OPEN, BOLD and DIRECT, on her personal life experiences as well as the taboo issues of life.
Growth:
June 2007: Jerri and her son hit hard times. While seeking help from local charities Jerri was amazed to find herself walking away feeling ashamed, degraded and hopeless. Although many provided her with assistance and encouragement Jerri still never forgot the impact the other charities had on her self esteem. Out of her pain, Jerri cried out to God seeking His direction. How could Jerri help others in similar situations seek help and not feel ashamed...especially the 'working class'? The Lord spoke to Jerri and instructed her to be part of the solution. From Jerri’s double car garage, “Pass It Forward Clothes Closet” opened its doors helping twenty families in the first month.
September 2007: Jerri created "JERRISPEAKS PRODUCTIONS, LLC". From a neighborhood garage sale Jerri purchased a basic camcorder, mic and a large 'boom box'. Plastic lavender isle runners were made into curtains, 2 poles and 1 long stick formed the perfect back drop and the camera was ready to roll!. Accompanied by her two daughters Tori and Ronyea and young son Michael, who ran the camcorder, lights and sound, Jerrispeaks produced its first set of home-made all-inspiring WOMAN TALK series on DVD and CD's.
2008 proved to be very challenging for Jerri. In January, Jerri lost EVERYTHING she owned and had worked so hard for including the ministries Clothes Closet. Jerri hit rock bottom as she found herself homeless for the second time in her life. Facing this harsh reality and staying strong proved more difficult with each passing day. Then she was faced with a life threatening brain tumor, GOD HEALED her from. Jerri suffered a great lost and set back that year and she could have given up.
BUT SHE DIDN’T..... like times in the pass, Jerri has turned obstacles into opportunities by keeping her Faith, Truth and Focus on GOD.
2009 GET REAL Ministries is being Blessed to be a Blessing.
WOMAN TALK is on the move and Jerri is more committed then ever and determined to fulfill the call on her live, to be a Kingdom Builder, by sharing the good news of God's love through our Lord and Saver JESUS, and Empowering Women for Purpose.
And she is now sharing her message not only by speaking. But through theatrics and book, "The Black Woman’s Attitude, And The Men That Want To Love Them" set to debut the Spring 2010.
